Mini silky goats is a common name for Miniature Silky Fainting Goats. Their distinctive long-haired appearance is central to the breed’s identity. What does “miniature” mean?
Miniature describes the breed’s size, not a promise that a goat will stay a baby. The Miniature Silky Fainting Goat Association’s show standard sets maximum heights of 25 inches for bucks and 23.5 inches for does at the withers. Thinking about keeping mini silky goats?
Start with the daily routine as well as the breed’s appearance. Before bringing goats home, plan suitable fencing, dry shelter with good ventilation, feed and water, and ongoing care. Discuss companionship, handling, hoof care, and a coat-care routine with the breeder, and identify a veterinarian who works with goats.
Ask what grooming each goat is accustomed to and how its long coat is maintained. A goat’s age, individual temperament, and handling history are useful things to discuss when deciding whether it fits your household and experience.
